We were excited about hiking to one of the Highland’s most dramatic waterfalls…..the mountain views, the woods, the wildflowers, Loch Ness, and all our majestic surroundings had to offer.
The Battle of Culloden was fought here on Drummossie Moor on April 16, 1746, between the Jacobite supporters of the Stuarts, and British forces supporting the Hanoverian King George. In less than an hour, 1,600 men were killed. Of those roughly 1,500 were Jacobites.

Just east of Inverness and not far from the Culloden battlefield lies the Balnuaran of Clava, more commonly known as the Clava Cairns. This is a bronze age site dated to around 2000 BCE.
